“The Mystery Solved: Four Friends Revealed”

Luke 5:17-26

A. The Paralytic Borne of Four – Luke 5:17-21

B. The Healing Explained – Luke 5:22-26 – “By causing this man to walk, Jesus proved he could forgive sins.” Dr. Woodrow Kroll

C. Application – Four friends revealed.

1. Compassion – to allow myself to see another person’s need as though it was my own. Key idea: to feel.
2. Perseverance – to see the reality of the situation but say, “It will not deter me from doing what I know should be done.”  Key idea: to carry on.  
3. Creativity – to look for the solution rather than be fixated on the problem. Key idea: to see beyond the present situation. 
4. Courage – to break through the wall of our present experience into the future that is unknown to us but known to God.  Key idea: to fight off fear.

D. Conclusion – Two challenges.

1. Be one of these four friends.
2. If you need these four friends to carry you to  Jesus, please don’t be afraid to ask for help.
