Pastor Lloyd Eyre’s Message: “Jesus’ Last Words: Alone”

Scripture: Matthew 27:45-50

Sermon Outline:

Introduction:  The story of Grace Llewellen Smith, from Six Hours One Friday by Max Lucado, pg. 34-35.

Thesis: The fourth saying from the Cross is the word of despair – “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”  This fourth saying tells us that God has a word to say to lonely people because Jesus identified with us even in our loneliness.

A. The passage – Probable source is Psalm 22.

B. Application – Three kinds of “aloneness”

  1. The loneliness of a broken relationship
  2. The loneliness of a broken dream
  3. The loneliness of a broken relationship with God

C. Conclusion – Paul Douglas Eyre – July 3, 1957- September 26, 1998.
